I have a VPN server on my home network and using Verizon's router I could not connect to it from outside at all. I did a bit of troubleshooting, but found no reliable solution so I replaced Verizon's router with an Asus AC1750 model. Works great now. The only caveat is if you have Fios TV the channel guide and on-demand features will not work with a third-party router. I do not have Fios TV so 19/08/2014
